Default Best C4?

I'm looking at getting into a 91-96 non-ZR1. I'm not in a real hurry, so I'm doing my research first.

My question is this - what is the best C4 in that range? I'm looking for a 6 spd that is amenable to performance upgrades that I can add as I scrape the $ together (ie- hide from the wife )

Thanks in advance!

PS - The reason that I don't want a ZR1 is that I want to mod the car, and drive it. I'd feel guilty doing either to a ZR1...

I'd personally look for a 96 LT-4. next to the ZR-1 and the B2K's these where the highest output and easy to mod... otherwise look for what ever is the best deal. If you find an 89 that is just dirt cheap... don't pass on it if you plan on modding it and driving spiritedly.

Silly question...
the "best" C4 is the one you own.

Wow is this a loaded question. I think everyone on here thinks their year is the best for at least one reason - they own it.

I agree - once I own a C4, it'll no doubt be the best.

But for now, I need a place to start

Yep, if you want a later C4 w/ a six speed, you can't beat the LT4.

Why not take some time to look around and decide which one really suits you. They all have finer points that appeal to different tastes. I searched a long time for a rare copper 94 but a 40th Ann 93 model would have been just as appealing. One of my personal favorites is the 96 Grand Sport. Whatever you wind up with will be a winner.

I learned many Vettes ago to buy the one that delivers the most smiles per gallon within your budget. All the other things will fall into place after that. There's good and bad about all model years, but they all lead to a great way of life!

Had a 90 model 6 speed, loved it, modded it, raced it, modded it some more, raced it some more, traded it for the 96 LT4. Love the 96 even more. I work on vettes for a living. the 96 will generally give less trouble than any other year C4.

I think my Red 6-speed 1992 LT1 is clear the best... But then I might be a little biased.

Unless you want a lt4 the 95 and 96 cars are pretty much a carry over form 95 to 96 and had the least problems and more refined so they get my vote.

all are pretty nice cars tho even the 84 with it's one year kinda things is pretty cool IMO.
