Default Acceleration times

I recently purchased a stock 94 coupe with 6 speed manual and am curious if anyone can provide performance statistics for my car such as zero-to-sixty acceleration and quarter mile.....what did GM advertise and independent tests such as from Car and Driver, etc.? Thank you.

Your in luck! I have here a July 1995 Motor Trend and it has a flat out under 50k article. It has a 6-speed LT1 car featured Which is the same 300 hp and 340 lb ft of torque as a 94. 0-60 5.2, weight 3203, 1/4 in 13.7 @ 103.9, .92 G, 167 Top speed. Not bad for a 10 year old car huh?

What he said I've heard that they hit 0-60 in 4.8 seconds... the rest is what I've seen it to be.

4.8 is quick, i also have a few test of LT-1 6 gear, they are 5.2-5.4 0-60.

I'm curious as to what they got out of the '96 LT4 if you have that issue laying around too!

I also see 13.7 for my 95 a lot on the net and that is it at it's worst IMO. Your 94 should be able to see 13.5 or even a tad better. I have a 95 a4 with the 3.07's and it has gone 13.2 stock. Looks like they would post the absolute BEST times these cars are capable of in those magazines.

Something doesn't jive here.
The LT4 (Grand Sport) that Car & Driver tested in 1996 had a top speed of 169mph (rev-limited). Does an extra 30hp and 400rpm only net you 2mph?
I dunno'...

Depends, Each car is an individual not all L98's, LT1's, LT4's or any engine, make identical power. There is probably 30 hp dif between the worst LT4's and best LT4's. I've seen LT1's in magazines post anywhere from 154 (who was driving that one?) to 172 (I'll buy that one thank you) Thats 18 MPH for the same engine. Temperature also makes a dif. I'm sure that in actuality though the top speed dif between a Healthy LT1 and LT4 is minimal it takes a significant increase in power to increase top end. More power makes more of a dif in acceleration. As speed doubles wind resistance quadruples, so a car going 120 has to cut through 4X the air pressure as a car going 60. This is why top end needs 300 hp to maintain speed and like 16 or whatever it is to do 60. Aerodynamics makes more dif in top end, Take off the mirrors and tape up the front end and an LT1 will probably keep up to an LT4 (Untaped with mirrors).

Got to remember the lt1 and lt4 have the same torque and the 30hp difference is only noticeable in really high rpm's... around town they feel the same...so I've heard, I mean I've driven a lt4 but didn't push it one bit so I can't personally say.

Don't beleive the magazines all the time, different cars, different drivers and different tracks.

My '93 automatic LT1 does the 1/4 in 12.50 and 0-60 in 3.8, it's stock except for 3.45 gears and a high stall TC.

My '95 six speed does the 1/4 in 12.97@106 and it's best completely stock was 13.07@108 only difference was I cut the mufflers off and added a K&N air filter.

Yeah, when I was new to the forum most told me a range from 13.2-13.6 for a 95 LT1 with just K and N filter and 3.07 gear. I believe them! My car feels just plain FAST. I have been curious about the top speed of a LT1 95 model. Is it about 167? Whoah! I thought it was 160. ?????

I thought the late c4s were heavier, like closer to 3300.

from personal knowledge, the L-98 stick cars go 155MPH being stock, and the LT-1 stick cars go 162MPH in stock trim. i have been in a LT-4, but never topped her out, but they do pull a little better then LT-1's.

Default G Force......

I purchased a GForce on Ebay for $40 or $50.00 can't remember which but is a great cheap tool for 0-60 and 1/4 runs. Its accurate and a good tool for testing new equipment.

167 requires 200 hp to wind resistance
169 requires 207

That's assuming the measurement equipment was accurate. Keep in mind that HP is a function of RPM and ~170 mph is not at the peak RPM range in any gear.
