I have a 92 and tonight the right headlight didn't come up all the way. I got out and it was just kind of floppy so I opened the hood and spun the **** and I got it all the way up. Then when I closed the hood it just fell back down. I checked it and the linkage is connected and I know the motor works so does this mean I have bad gears in it? Does anybody sell a gear replacment kit? And how hard is it to do?
The weak point on those light motors is not the gear. But really the "gelly" like stuff inside the gears. What you need is to put some bushings in it. Look in the C4 tech tips I know that there is at lest one in there telling you what you need to do to fix this. It's not hard and should take you no more then an hour per light if you are working slow. Look to some of the supporting venders on the left of the main forum page for a head light bushing kit. Get two kits and fix both lights, because it's only a matter of time before the other one goes out.
I had the same problem. It is the bushing, they are like $5.00 for a set of 3 bushings. As said above do both lights, and there are directions in the tips. Good luck and they'll wotk better then new.

You can also get the bushings at Home Depot P/N 595609 for around $0.69 for a pack of 3. This is a great way to go if you are a cheap B^&tard like me
I just got back in the house, You guys are gona love this. I need a whole motor assembly. I took the motor out and figured the bushings would be bad or the gear stripped... NOT MINE! Of coarse not why would anything be simple for me. There is a shaft that connects to a disc type thing that the bushings set on... well the shaft is splined to the disc. The splines are stripped, if I cant get just the shaft and the disc then I will have to buy a new motor assembly. Or I can drill into the through the disc and shaft to possibly put a pin in it or something. The bushings look brand new. I will call the dealer in the morning and see whats available. Why is everything with this car a nightmare? Nothing is easy or a quick fix.
