I plan on using it on the frame for the 63 but so far I have only used it on the gas tank for the 68 and it WORKED super. I would recomend it for all. I had a pin hole leak on the tank of the 68 and it sealed the leak and looks great!!!!!
I laid on my back and painted the underside of a '53 Chevy with the stuff. It works great. Make sure to wear plenty of protection. If you get it on you it will be on you until it wears off. Nothing cleans it off.
Great paint, sticks real good, super hard finish, great for metal protecting, but it does not hold up to UV light in the long run. If the paint is going to be exposed to sunlight, make sure you paint over it to protect it. Other than that it is awesome! Make sure you wear rubber gloves, and don't get it on you.
I used Magnet paint on my truck. It is a bit cheeper and can't be applied right out of the can. If you look at POR15 you need all sorts of prep. Cleaners, nuetralizers, primers, ect......
I used some on my truck frame and so far it seems bullet proof. They sent me a sample on a piece of flexible sheetmetal. You can bend this think in half and the paint didn't crack !!
One thing I would do different though is buy the semi gloss/satin finish since the gloss is way too shinny and doesn't look right.
I agree with runum, don't get the stuff on you. Also if you put the lid back on use wax paper in between the lid and can. If not you will need a chisel and a hammer to get the lid off. GREAT STUFF
As stated above, once it gets on your skin its there until it grows off. If you paint anything that will see sun you will have to clear coat it otherwise it will fade.
Some guy on a classic mustang board I check out once in a while claims his car rusted through the POR-15, but that's kind of hard to believe. I've never heard of metal rusting after POR-15 has been applied. Tough stuff.
I used this on the frames of two Dodge Chargers four years ago. No rust since and it looks like I did it yesterday. Everyone talking about wearing protection is exactly right. This stuff will not come off. One hint. If you use it, drill a hole in the can just below the lid, pour out what you need and plug the hole with a sheet metal screw. Saves the lid and lets you reuse it. If it's not sealed, you'll have to blast to get the top off.
Lots of good comments but as you are asking in C4 section I would like to point out that the C4 frame is galvanized and not prone to rusting. And as the suspension is aluminium there is very few rust prone parts left, only some bumper supports and hood hinges that will benefit from rust preventive action - like POR-15.
