i have a 1992 with 56k. i ran a carfax and it came up clean. the paint is chipping (very little) where the rear bumper meets the body. It is also chipping on the rear hatch area, wher the glass sits. It is where the water sits when you wash it. It is where there is a 90 degree bend int he rear glass where the point is. It is on both sides of the car. What should i do about it?
I doubt its a factory paint job.
A friend of mine that does Corvette bodywork said, " you can tell when you sand it down if its factory paint or not."
Anyway,Thats my guess.
Carfax only covers items that were reported through insurance.. if someone had something fixed and never reported it to the insurance it wouldn't show up.
untill you get it fixed correctly i have put clear finger nail polish on chippes before to keep it from getting worse...
That would just made the proper repair even more difficult to do. You will want to get on the repairs very soon, but do yourself a favor and don't make it worse. Right now, if I'm correct about the clear-coat flaking away, the repairs aren't that difficult to do.
