I believe the later ones have the hole for the hook, but the other reason for 92-93 and 94-96 is that the 92=93 came with cut pile carpet and the 94-96 is Tru Vette.
Actually since you have a '92, what you have is cut pile, you see how it's kind of "loopy", well the tru vette is more "cut"
I'll try and dig some pics out and see if you can tell the difference. From a distance nobody would ever know, even up close it's not enough to really notice.

I think what's more important than what type is to make sure it's the proper color. For instance, in '92 they had "flame red" but in '93 it was "torch red"(or it may have been "bright red"for '92 and "flame red" for '93, but it doesn't matter, all that matters is that there is a difference.)
In my '93, I have cut pile on the door panels, both hush panels and the door sills, and the rest of the car is tru vette.
