Desktop Dyno is decent. If you're looking for exact horsepower numbers you won't get them, but it can give you the basic shape of a power curve. It lets you see the basic effect of advancing or retarding a cam or tweaking duration, etc.

Motion Software makes Drag2000 dragstrip simulation software and Dyno2000 dyno software.
I think either is available on Amazon for around $45.
Drag2000 is useful is chosing gear ratios and shift points if you have a dyno curve for your engine.
