Default help please!

my 85 will be going down the road perfect then all the sudden die. it does this at all speeds. it seems like the fuel pump is going out but in order to start it again you have to keep the paddle to the floor then it smokes like it flooded out. ( no codes)

As Bogus correctly stated, to have a prayer in narrowing down your problem, you need to state the vehicle's mileage, what kinds of maintenance you have done to it and when and if quality parts were used. Your problem could be so many different things. But you should never need to gas the car to keep it going. That's the job of the computer.
