Default Mice,Mice,Mice!!!!

I am having a problem with mice getting inside the interior of our '96 coupe. This only happens when the car is not in my shop. If I could keep it in the shop at all times, I would. Sometimes I have to park it outside under a carport that is open on all sides. I have put the car on my car lift and looked to find where they are coming in at. I don't see any obvious place. I have not cut any holes in the body or have seen any where that the previous owner has doe any cutting. I would like to know if anyone has had this problem or have a suggestion where to look? The car is has an auto. trans.,so there is no area at the shifter to enter. HELP!!!!!
Thank you,
JTHVETTE
P.S.- Email me if you have any info.

Those little critters can get thru a hole half their body size! The slightest crack in the weather striping could be it. Gromet in the firewall?

This might seem odd, but there is a possibility that they are coming through your vents. I have seen mice crawl through the smallest of spaces. They might be entering from under your car, getting underneath the hood and somehow getting into your ducts. Just a thought.

PS. Mice don`t have bones, they have cartilege (sp?), so they can get into any space unless its air tight.

I replaced the heater fan on one of my other cars this past fall. There were remnants of a mouse house in the fan. If the vent door had been open, he/they would've had the run of the interior.

Whatever you do, don't use mouse poison! If they eat that and get into your vent system, it's all over! I set a perimeter of mouse traps around the car when in storage.

They seem to like chunky peanutbutter...

I have found traces of mice under the hood in the past, but I was told to put dryer sheets in the places they were apparently using. Now I put dryer sheets all over the interior and under the hood. I haven't found any traces of mice in the last few years. The dryer sheets seem to work better than mothballs and don't smell as bad.

Amen to that!!!!! I put them in baggies (so I do not have the sheet laying on the carpet itself) It seems to work well

i once saw a mouse run behind my mr coffee machine.i blocked it off and the wife made ready with a bucket to catch the rascal and get rid of it.
she stood poised while i grabbed the coffee maker and jerked it straight up.nothing.the thing disappeared.
im looking all over the place and started examining the mr coffee.only tiny holes in a tin plate on the bottom but i got a screwgun and pulled the screws.sure enough the little bugger was inside with the element.guess he thought he was in his own element but i taught him different lol.
it was really amazing how small a hole that mouse went into.
i use drier sheets too and also carve up some irish spring soap bar around the shop floor and under the car for squirrel repellant.so far so good,if i could only figure out some cat repellant.i find tracks on the cover.and i dont have a cat either.vettes do attract em

Dude, mice have bones. But, if they can squeeze their head through their body will follow. The best solution is to remove any and all food or potential food. They won't live where there isn't any food. And poison doesn't work because they don't know it's poison. Mice think it's food. Just my 2c.

2 suggestions - Move to Canada. it's -39 with -51 windchill this morning - NOTHING will live in those conditions (except apparently ME). Second, take down the "Mice Welcome Here" sign.

And yes, mice do have bones.

Default mice, mice

Better plug those exhaust tips too. After the first year of storing mine for the Winter, I blew Mickey out the Flowmaster tip when I started it up in the Spring. Since then I have been taking old socks with mothballs in them and stuffing them into the exhaust tips, and also laying them in various places under the hood and inside the car. No problems since then (maybe its the old socks). I like the idea of using drier sheets though. Might try it.

I believe that you are thinking of jellyfish (common mistake). I have a cat and no mice.

Mice, like squirrels, will eat anything if they are hungry, including the insulation on your wires and the carpet. I just wonder how many miles a night they are putting on JTHVETTEs ride!
