Locks
Anyone know where I can get some new door locks cheap. My driver's side door lock broke tonight...I turn the key, but nothing happens. THis is a problem cause the passenger side door handle doesn't work...so if I lock the car...I can't unlock it!

It might not be the lock but one of the plastic retainers have broke and the arms have come loose. Need to open up the door panel and check or simply remove the lock from the passenger door and move it to the drivers door. I believe I saw a pair on Ebay a day ago or so.

That would be cool, retainer clips are only $3.00, then I will have to tackle the alarm, the passenger door handle. How hard is it to get the lock out once the door panel is removed? I have only had the car for a couple of weeks...so I have never taken anything apart on it yet.

Once the door panel is off, on an '88, there an Al panel along the lower rear of the door that needs to come off or loose to access the door lock/latch mechanism.
Meanwhile, see if you can lock/unlock the doors from the passenger side.

One down, One to Go
Fixing the lock wasn't to bad...a couple of scrapes and cuts, and a couple of hours did the trick. It would be nice if the clips were made out of stainless steal...maybe then they wouldn't break.
