Interior Questions
I will be redoing the interior from saddle to black. I have ordered carpet from Wilcox, sport seat covers and new foam set from Al Knoch and black seatbelt assys from Contemporary.
The carpet seems to be pretty straight forward. Does anyone have any insight on re doing the sport seat covers. I feel I have the skill to do this, but I was hoping that there might be some one who might have some tips/experiences to make the job go more smoothly. I tried a search on the forums to no avail. At this point, I will be dissecting one of the existing seats to see how it is put together. I will also be trying to fix some other issues with the seats...lumbar, etc while I have them apart.
Also, I need to dye the door panels, console sides and e-brake cover. Does the spray dye being sold work ok? Any idea as to how many cans needed to do this job? Also do I need to buy any type of primer?
Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance for any answers/help. You all have a nice weekend. God Bless America

I converted my '89 coupe interior from blue to black last year. I purchased new leather seats and did not do them myself. Everything else I did. I bought new door panels and arm rests on Ebay. The fit great and could not be happier. I did use the dye. I purchase the SEM Vinyl die and used their cleaner and prep as described in the instructions. So far, I have not had a problem. One of the poeple I work with did their center console and it has lasted over 5 years, so I went ahead and did it. I basically did the center console side sections, console arm rest, parking break cover, hood latch and floor foot rest pieces. I sprayed them with two coats each letting each coat dry for an entire day. I bought two cans and just about used it all. I would say you would need at least (4) cans of the dye.
Good luck.

Again, thanks for the reply.

When you get around to doing the seats, please post some pics. I contemplated this and was going to do it, except time was the issue. I enjoyed changing out the interior. It was well worth it. The car feels like new when I get inside of it.
Good luck.
