Ok..... but you may have better luck if you put this in the C4 parts section.

Default 87

this 87 part isn't compatible with an 85 because of the computer numbers.
The 85 has an earlier style computer

Default Ecm

the 85 uses a separate maf burnoff module. repinning isn't all you have to do. also, the 85 alternator won't work with the 87 computer because the alternator voltage is not (electrical) noise free

I've never done the '870 (1985) to 165 swap, but I know a bunch of guys that have. I've swapped numerous 165s for '730. (my vette for example). I've never heard of any alternator issues on the '870 cars.

Anyhow, From Mike Davis:

The ECM conversion/upgrade involves
10 repinning's in the stock '85 ecm harness connector
2 splices's between wires in the '85 ecm harness connector
1 wire removal in the '85 ecm harness connector
1 wire addition in the '85 ecm harness connector

for an '870. All pins/info was taken from:

('85 350TPI Corvette pinout)
http://www.eecis.udel.edu/~davis/z28/ECMs/870ecm.gif

('86 305TPI F-body pinout)

ECM pinouts are listed on the connector harness and also shown in the
ECM wiring diagrams.

MAS ('85 Burn off module) pin letters should be on the MAS connector harness.

MAF Pwr and Burnoff relay pin letters are on the stock harness connectors
and possibly on some OEM and aftermarket relays.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
^* NOTE: '85 Ybody (vette) may have these swapped.. Check your app..
(Thanks to Philippe Maier for catching this!)

%*% Depending on what '165 bin file you use, be sure to check that it's
programmed for the correct A/C pressure switch in your application, either normally-open (N/O) or normally-closed (N/C). An incorrect
setting will cause the Rad. Fan to run continuously.
