I think there are some shorties that have E.O. #'s, but I'm not aware of any long tube headers that are certified.

There are no long-tube headers with a CARB number, none.

You can use shorties, but no brand comes to mind.

There are no legal long tube headers available in California. From what I hear, shorties are a waist of money. Some people get away with Hooker long tubes in California inspite of the smog rules.

any brands for the shorty headers?? i dont really need the long tube headers. the pass side manifold has been repaired at the flange so id really rather put some eo#ed headers on it than replace the one manifold with another stocker. the damaged manifold is causing y-pipe/cross brace interference......which in turn causes a really annoying banging/vibration at certain low rpm crusing speeds.....which is just total !!!! someone help...pleeeeeeze

None.

Even though 84s & 85s have no precats that would need to be relocated.

Even though there are smog legal LT's for TPI camaros.

Even though a car with LTs will run cleaner and more efficiently than one with a manifold or shorties.

I have found no 50-state smog legal headers for your year Vette in either Summit or Jegs.

You best bet will be to have a good exhaust shop move the current pipes to eliminate rattles.

Default jba headers

If I'm not mistaken JBA headers in San diego carry or used to carry smog legal headers. I think there called Shorties. Call them and see if they have them or where you can get them used. Just my 2 cents from what I remember in searching for headers. I have the long tube headers from TPIS. So far no trouble getting passed the visual. Knock on wood.

Bad news, guys. I have an '88 too and have looked high and low. JBA is the only company that has a shorty with an EO#, but get this, they don't make them! I was so flabbergasted, I called JBA and gave them the part number. They don't make them! They went to all the trouble to get and EO# and then decided not to make them! Cripes, close but no cigar! I also emailed Hooker and the response was "sorry Charlie". Same story on long tubes, they eliminate the pre cats.

I don't know if I could help any, but I have an 85 with headers--and they have the smog runners welded on them, I don't care too much for them--I would like to get some polished headers. I'm not sure what to look for, long tube or short? I don't know too much about engines/exaust. I would consider selling mine if I could find a set I could use....thanks

With all the part numbers they put out at one time for an EO number, I can't believe they didn't include the 84/85 vette.

The 82 vette has smog legal long tubes, and the same motor as an 84.

Even with smog rails and no E.O. number for CA? That bites. WTF do they care as long as the cats are on? Whats the difference?

TPIS has them (or so they claim).

P/N: 200-003 (Painted): with emissions: $600
P/N: 200-004 (Coated): with emissions: $750

Chillcat: if you find ones that work, sell me yours!
