I once read in some forum post where soemone said the ecm adds fuel and timing when the a/c compressor is on, that is, when climate control is on. A guy had noticed his car felt like it actually had as good or slightly better power when the a/c was on than when off.
I think I notice this with my '95. climate control doesn't seem to have the drag effect it used to since I installed new oxygen sensors about a thousand miles ago. Maybe even feels stronger w/ climate control on.

it may "feel" like an overall power increase, but the net effect will still be decrease somewhere in the range of 2-5 HP.` with the compressor churning.
