Tie Rod boot ends

I have a dryrotten tie rod end.
Do the poly boots in the VBP kits act as the grease barier, or are they just covers?

They should be a regular boot made of poly.

If not, the ones from energy suspension are.

poly boot?

can I remove the grease and the boot from what is there and put the new ones on? Is there some kind of clip on the top?
How does the bottum fit in?
