ZF6: does starter fail w/worn DM fly?
Was wondering if this was a common issue with the ZF6:
5 years ago, (37 k mi ago), my starter failed--car wouldn't start. Then, within 3k mi more, the DM fly and clutch had to be replaced.
In hindsight, I concluded that the worn DM busted the starter.
Have you guys had this experience?
It's been 5 years, 37 k mi, and maybe 60-90 drag passes, and the lately when I crank it does not fire right up. I actually heard a grind last time, sounded like when my Trans am had a bad starter.

it is possible. The ring gear on the flywheel can shift (it's the separate part of the dual mass), and when the bendix hits the flywheel, it will no mesh properly.
You may want to consider a single mass next time...
