Default Sweet Thunder Cat Back--Anyone tried it?

Has anyone had any experience with this system?

To me it looks cheap and loud.

That is the same type of exhaust that some of the late sixties camaros and corvettes came with it is called chambered exhaust. It is definately loud.

I had it on my car. I absolutely loved the sound of the pipes. They are deeper sounding than most other aftermarket pipes, and they have a sweet gurgle when going easy through a town. You will turn heads.

The problem is your choice of the size of the pipes. When I called to order the guy recommended the smallest pipe they sell, the 2 1/4". He said I didn't need the 3" set and the larger pipes would be way louder. The small chambered is actually more restrictive than the stock GM exhaust. After I modded my engine I had to discard the chambered and go with a custom 3" setup to get the power I wanted.

Ask them if they know any Corvette owners who went with the 2 1/2" or 3" set they sell. You would love the sound of the pipes but the larger ones may be too loud. They really are nothing but glass packs built in a special way with diffferent size chambers to tune the sound. The problem is they use what seem like tabs opened with a church key to open the chambers. These sets of tabs stick down into the exhaust flow and make it way more restrictive than the 3" pipe with 3" bullet glass packs I went with.

They do sound good!!!!!!

Aluminumized tubing, not mandrel bent, I don't see $500 worth of value there.

After taking a closer look at the web site, I see they have improved it. Go ahead and try it, you'll love the sound.

One thing about trying something different in the exhaust, it's easy to go back. Not like putting in a cam that doesn't work out.

Default Sweet Thunder or X Pipe / Exhaust Elimination

I did the muffler eliminator trick a few months ago. A local muffler shop welded in 2.5" pipes in place of the rear mufflers for $60. So far I love the sound. Now I can't decide if I want to throw out the middle resonator for an X-Pipe or go with the sweet thunder chambers in place of the resonator. They now offer a 38" chambered muffler with 2.5" inner baffel for $150. I read on another post that the factory resonator is mainly for noise reduction and is pretty restrictive. Im looking for a deeper and little louder sound at wide open throttle. I'm just worried it'll be a little too loud for everyday driving. How much difference in performance between the two? Would this be too little back pressure? If so I could go with the 2.25" inner baffle. Sound suggestions? I'm just looking for suggestions or someone with a similar setup. The link is below.

I wouldn't even put it in the same garage as my Vette.

"with no residence frequency problems"

With errors like this on their web page it makes you wonder what they know about exhaust.

Default Exhaust

Is there an H-Pipe inside the resonator for balancing flow? If so what about going with a Magnaflow 3" X-Pipe and then two 3" chambered 24" pipes from sweet thunder to replace the resonator? Decisions. Descisions. Thanks in advance for the suggestions/comments.
