Decisions, decisions

An apartment is part of the deal, but so is a rental car, currently the latest generation Mustang, which I’m really enjoying taking out to track events!

The question is what to do when I bring the Vette out here.
Work will still pay for a rental car, or they’ll pay me to use my own car instead.
So, should I take the $$$, or let them pay for something that will haul the Vette to track events, and use it as my daily driver?
regarding your question, assuming they pay you per mile to drive your own car (i think there's a federal standard out there for $0.40/mi now) you actually may end up ahead with going with the rental. i doubt you will get an effective second income for driving your own car.
with the rental i assume you only have to worry about gas. you might then consider knocking down your insurance coverage on the Corvette - save some cash. fewer tires you have to buy in the long run - save more cash. for me, having another car around is certainly worth something too - but putting a $$$ figure would depend on what you think.
Do they pay driving expenses for the rental or just the lease expense?
How much would they pay for expenses on your own car; would it be enough to pick up a nice DD??

If I use my own I get 55% of the lease plus the $52/day
to think I was out of work for two years, and was 1 month from losing everything, what a difference a few months make

That is GREAT news!!!
I am in your boat... that last month is looming close... ick.
I don't know what to tell ya... It's too late for me to do math.
Just remember to clean off the fender. And hope they don't surf the forum looking for pics.
Anyway, that sounds like a sweet deal that gives you have a copla good options.
1-use the 55% of lease to pay down debts and build up some cash reserve quickly
2-take the 55% of lease and buy another Vette, depending on finances
3-use part of the $52/day (~$1.5k/mo) to stash put away spare cash for another Vette.
Which option works best depends on factors like how secure is the position, any debts that need to be paid down, what you intend to do with your Vette and personal comfort level.
Personally I like to have a few $$ stashed away and a second car to chase parts for the Vette. I guess I'd do the math, set my priorities, come with a plan and go for it.
Congrats on the good fortune and good luck.

Bogus, there's work up this way, the commute would stick, but it's work, and the pay is real good.

On top of that I checked out a place today. It's a two story townhouse with attached two car garage, plenty of space for both the Corvette and my boat project, for $1,200 a month. Work's also giving me 55% of 3,000/mo ( my current hotel bill ) to get my own place.
I was just looking at this beautiful IL weather two weeks ago thinking how nice it would be to live somewhere warm where I could fire up the motorcycle and cruise around in Jan or Feb. Congrats on the new job, it sounds like a good one An apartment is part of the deal, but so is a rental car, currently the latest generation Mustang, which I’m really enjoying taking out to track events!

MA has California standard now, but most the testing sites wouldn't know what CARB stands for.
So the irony is, I might be able to do more to my car here! Also it looks like I'll have to shop elsewhere for a rental if I want to actually tow the Vette to the track. AVIS not only does not rent trucks, but they don't allow any towing at all.
On the other hand, there's plenty of room in a two car garage to keep a tire trailer.
