Default Any beam plate installation tricks?

I just yanked the exhaust off last night and am getting ready to install these 'beam plates'.

First off I hope these little things make my traction so good that its never an issue any more (ie. the car rotating right I believe when punching it, less wheelspin, etc.).

Im just wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom. I have a 93 LT1 zf-6.
The beam plate instructions say something about pulling off the beam and inspecting the mounting surfaces.

Knowing how hard it is to get that beam off, Im not going to take it off but run my finger over the 2 nut/bolt mount surfaces on the front and back to make sure I dont feel anything wrong with the surfaces....

If anyone has any advice. Id appreciate it. Thanks!

Bluewasp:

How about your traction. Did you notice such an improvement with these things that traction problems are no longer ever an issue?

What did you notice? (other than making reinstallation of torque beam easier)

I don't think you have to remove the beam, but I would support the tranny so the bolts will come out easier. As far as being the end all of your wheel spin problem, maybe you'd also better check the rest of your rear suspension. Clean the threads of the bolts before reinstalling them.

Do one bolt at a time to help keep it lined up. Remove one bolt, place on top. Reinsert that one bolt, undo second, swivel the plate over and run the second bolt up.

Tranny side is the more difficult one as there is not a lot of room.

I noticed a big difference. Before I could feel the rear twist to the right; right side lifting up when I got on it. the "twist" went away after the beam plate install.

Make sure you have a jack under the tranny. When you remove the bolts the tranny will sag down a little and you need the jack under there to lift it back up to get the holes to align. Don't force the bolts in. if the bolts won't go in, jack up the trans a little or lower it until the holes are lined up. The bolts should slide in.
