Default 93 auto tranny problem

when I accelerate medium to hard, I have to left off the gas to get the tranny to shift from 2nd to 3rd. If I accelerate normally it shifts fine, anybody have an idea on what the problem is?

Thanks in advance.

Randy

sounds like the governor is gummed up. try some transmedic in there and see if that helps.

Also, the TV cable might need reset.

Do you have the helms manual? If not, get one, www.helminc.com - it will cover the proper setting and adjustment of the TV cable. The TV cable effects shifting in relation to throttle position.

There are also segments on servicing the governor.

I had the same problem and beleive it or not, it was the fuel filter. The fuel was being restricted so much that the engine did not get enough fuel which the engine electronics was calling for, determined by the throttle position sensor.

If you have to ease off the gas to make it shift, I would try the fuel filter. It worked for me, and the car seemed to have much more power.
