My car , 1993 corvette twin turbo , has over 590 ft./lbs of torque and finally "Uncle Big Torque" shown me its destructive consequences !
Firstly my clutch Starr Spec stage III stared to slipping ,
so I had customized the clutch by added the second ,harder spring in the pressure plate and changed the friction material for hevyduty one.
But after I done the mods, and started to enjoy the new clutch set up, the weakest element in my Vette wis broken.
It has broken the axle spindle ! Additinal my wheel hub and ABS sensor were also dameged.
If anyone of you has the same problems? and where can I buy the stronger axe spindles?
Your replies will be very helpful.
hate that when it happens. took mine out at the strip. dumped the clutch, the back end rose up and just sat on the line. had to put a floor jack under it and push it out of the way. get in contact with redbull23, he might be able to get a new set of axles set up for you. someone recently had a set aftermarket spindles for sale, maybe some one can shed some light on it.
Grzenio, i did'nt catch where you were at, the country poland? i don't think you can just go down to your lacal chevy dealer and get a new set of spindles, do you have to mail order? i think i would get a set of really beefed up spindles to put back in so this does'nt happen again soon. there are other members who probably have gone through this before and would share some info about this. if you look at the break, this has been fractured for a while, and when you put the right amount of torque to it, it just sheared the rest of the way.
