Hey Rich, maybe you can arrange a group discount on the correct gaskets for anyone that wants to buy them for a limited time. I would be up for this immediatly as long as I could get the right gaskets within a couple of weeks.
Or another option might be for someone at Mr.Gasket to give us a discount coupon on our next set.
I had an inkling this came down to simply the incorrect gasket. Great to hear its not a systemic design issue. The correct gaskets can be had from LPE (LTR's vs. SR) at about $24 for the set.
The ones that came with my SR plenum/runners kit appear to fit just right.
Ok so the gaskets all come from Mr. Gasket. I guess I will have to give them a call Monday and see how to get my new gasket set exchanged.
It would be nice to see the supplier step up to plate here and let us know this issue exsists and how to get it resolved instead of having their resellers speak for them. Thanks for the info .
I've removed my superram twice last summer and still have the gaskets from the frist replacement..........the slot in the gasket for the egr port is 1 7/8.......dam.......right now I have a whiisle noise at cold start up...the new ones must be the same........bought them from LPE........no way do I what to do it again..........plus I replace all gaskets when I remove the superram so I'll want a complete gasket kit not just the wrong base gasket..........glad I read this post...thanks for the heads up.
My car ran like hell after I put it back together last fall. I'm sure my lack of tuning ability is the primary cause but this couldn't have helped either........
And here you can see the compression area on the gasket.......
Boy, this just won't go away. I think what we're getting now that it's all said and done is regular TPI runner gaskets. I could be wrong 'cause I never looked into it, I just welded up my runner in the interest of expediency and was done with it.
I'd suggest we get our gaskets from Tom Wong or Rich @ Cruizin instead of these big 'ol parts houses. At least that way we'd have somebody who gave a darn and is sympathetic to the issue.
Man, am I glad I caught this before I put it together.....what a hassle!
Its been going on since 2002. I tried getting new gaskets but ended up making the one.

The supplied gaskets from my Super Ram base to SR runners will not seal. I did a mock up of the plenum, runners and base insuring the proper placement of the runners. I found that all the gaskets would seal except for the runner to base gaskets on the EGR and 9th injector ports. I double checked I was using the correct gasket for the correct port although it's really obviouse if it's wrong. The main problem is that the high point for the EGR hole is too high. The gasket material at the top of the EGR port should be at least and 1/8" lower (tow... http://go.mrgasket.com/AskTechResult...dID=0&ID=34146
Wasap? I can't offer any advice 'cause like Scorp and Nuke, when my intake came off(3X) everything was hunky dorey. Strange that yours is that way.
On a more positive note and to make you feel better, I am selling my Audi S4(I also saw my old car yesterday for a little while) and getting an LPE C5 with a magnacharger/blower cam and an item or two here n there. I want to go quicker than 120 mph
When that car of yours is situated, you'll have a similar combo to my former car, a looker that'll rip a stump out of the ground!! Good luck resolving this chief. Like you always told me when I was down, keep your chin up.
