Hi, got a 96 lt4 and presently have 5 spoke chrome ZR1 9.5 wide rims on all four corners.
I`d like to go wider in the rear and install 11`s with 50mm offset with 315`s tires and also lower rear with 1 inch. I also know that even with 50mm offset rims wheels still stick out a little.
Q: Will my wider rims and tires in the back hit the edge of the wheel whale if i lower the car one inch given the fact that they stick out pass the wheel whale?
On a different note i saw a c4 at a car show with 11`s and 315`s in the rear and they were NOT sticking out at all...not even 1mm...the guy said he had coilovers installed and that made the wheel tuck in more.
What can it be done for our c4`s with 11`s and 315`s and 50mm offset in rear in order NOT to stick out al all?
Thanx guys
Note that on jumps and bumpy roads, the stock 285's will rub the inner wheelwell.(ask me how I know)
I have 315's on 11's with the 50mm offset and they hardly stick out at all, maybe 1/16th of an inch.
I don't see how coilovers will make a difference. The half shafts are still teh same length. For teh coilovers to make a difference, the hub and everything else would have to be located more inboard for the wheels to not stick out unless this guy changed the alignment(camber) or had a custom offset on the wheels.
with Mojo, coilovers make no difference... I'm running Goodyears... alot depends on how much camber you hae by lowering it as well the more camber the less they will stick out at the top, I'm running -1 degree...
I cant remember how many sets of 315s ive gone threw and never a problem with rubbing or stickin out.. in fact ive been wondering what a set of 335s with flares might look like back there..
I have been thinking about 315's on 11's for a while. Thanks for the info. It helps me make the decision. Now I need to finish wearing out the tires I do have so I can have a reason to buy new tires again.
I narrowed my rear to fit the 315's with 17x11's with the 50 mm offset. I can send photos and guidelines. GM recommended this years ago when the installed the 17x11 ZR1 offset wheels inthere Big Doggie Vette. Then the Grand SPort offset came out, and voila, perfect fit. I even lowered mine. Look at pics in sig.
Basically you want is about 8.3 inch offset. I think that is what Fikse has , or close to, for the 89-96 Vette. The Grand sport has an additonal 14mm offset from the ZR-1 then the narrowing I do is 13mm more.
In my Imagestaion if you click on the pictures, you can see, if you look at photo in original form as they are huge pics, you can see the fit of the wheels.

There is one member here who has 335s on the back of his late c4; most will say that 11" rims are too small for 335s but apparently they work OK for street driving; as for them not rubbing, I seem to remember he was happy with them so I suppose they work fine

Thanx for all your replies...got some money comming back from the IRS and ill get those 11`s..i`ll finally go for 315`s...they look to kool not to do it.
I`m selling two 9.5`s chrome rims five spoke (zr1 style) with 255`s or 285`s GoodYears HP on them...they have less than 1000 miles on both (rims and tires)
I have 315 rear and 275 front 17''s 55 mm off set never came close to the flair or the inner shocks ,parking break a little close but the recall took care of that.
