I am wondering if there is an easy way to check if a camshaft is operating properly or if the lobes have worn down. The L98 seems weak and it reminds me of a problem I had with an old 82 firebird v6.
What year? On flat tappet cams, a flat or wiped out lobe can make the combustion charge come back thro0ugh the intake making a popping sound. I'm sure it has happened somewhere, but rollers usually don't go flat. If one fails, you'll know "right now".
What symptoms have you thinking its the cam? Any codes? Have you done a leakdown/compression test? Just curious
