When you open the hood, look to the inside of each light housing, you will see the motor/actuator assembly. This is what 'flips' your head lights up when turned on and down when turned off. Are your lights working (go up when turned on/down when off)?
The motor is part of the actuator. If you remove the tape, does the head light move freely? Or do they spin down and then not open?
A common problem with our year set up is the gears inside the actuator/motor assembly. However, if both lights can be moved freely when the tapes removed, you might have other problems.
I just got a 89 corvette the guy that i bought the car from said that the headlight actuators are bad. where are the actuators located on the car.
to check, pull dash switch, if power is at the actuators then the module is working and the motors should be heard, but if there is no movement then check for gears/ bushing wearout.
actuators are the motors next to the lights..
the headlight module located driver side front fender well . is about 4" square...this module could also be defective..it controls the actuators..
Be carefull ... That link you listed is NOT for an 89 corvette... It is for the 84 to 87.... Make sure you buy the right one...
btw... the actuator is the motor... They are not that hard to fix... or you can buy a rebuilt one for about 100 bucks with trade in... You'll just have to park you car for a bit....
