Default ZZ4 Cam Question

Hi guys,

Anybody have the I/E event numbers for a ZZ4 cam?

I need the cam card data for it if anybody has it or knows where I can get it.

Is this cam the same as the ZZ409 from TPIS? I have heard thats its similar to the Hotcam but produces more low and midrange torque without sacrificing anything on the top end.

This may be another one of my apples ot oranges comparisons, but my days in the Fbody world I have seen people who were not happy wiht the results of the ZZ4 cam in an EFI application. I unfortunately do not have any real data on this... just heard the complaints. I just thought I'd pass it along.

I ran this cam for 3 years. The intake duration and lift are somewhat lacking at 208* and 0.474". The exhaust was pretty good though at 221* with 0.510". The cam will quickly become the limiting factor when you start modding the intake and exhaust due to the small intake duration.
If I could do it all over I would have went with a 219 LPE for a 350.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the info.
No concern about hijacking here. It's ALL good information.

I can "create" cam card , I/E event data, etc, from the cam itself but that doesn't tell me if the cam is what was intended.
But I really wanted the cam data for degree purposes.

I have the cam and am going to try it out and see how I like it.

The Lingelfelter 219 does look like a good cam but it cost about three times as much as the ZZ4 cam.... Maybe I'll get one of those later.
Ditto on the TPIS ZZ9. Looks good.
I like the HOT Cam but the lift on it is getting 'out' there a ways for my Z28 valve springs.
Unless you get the whole kit it looks like a coil bind monster.

The ZZ4 looked like a good 'compromise' cam. Not as much duration and lift as the HOT Cam but easier to work with.

I have a Crane cam in my truck that idles like a Harley. Long ago forgot the details on it. Lopes like a kangaroo.
Converted it to TPI last year and after 32 chip burns it runs great. That cam was made back around 1975 before EFI came along.
It really wasn't that hard to tune.

SS409, I'll use those numbers and see if the cam conforms to them.
Pace, Scoggin-Dickey and Greenwood don't seem to publish all the data for this cam for some reason.

74220 - SBC 350-420 215/220 .540/.555 w 1.6 114

------------------------------------------------------------

The ZZ4 cam does measure in as a lightweight compared to these other cams.
I may have to bite the bullet and go with the Hot Cam or a Lingenfelter 219 cam.
I'm looking to make 400~425 HP.

The ZZ4 cam may get close but I'm thinking it will come in around 360~375 HP.

Here's my combo:

.060 350 block
3.75 Stroke Eagle Crank
Edelbrock Performer RPM Heads 64CC
Speed Pro Pistons Flat Top
Compression 10.5 +/- .5 (don't know exactly yet)
