lay down radiator
I've the radiator layed down, so it's horizontal, both on SpeedGT cars, and on a supercharger Mallet car done up for the One Lap race.
Why?
It makes a lot more room, and seems to flow better.
Think about all the space you'd have infront of the engine doing it.
Plenty of room for a blower, turbo, intercooler.
And, since heat rises, it would flow air through the radiator naturally.
Downside?
The radiator would get smashed in accident.
Where to relocate the aircleaner?
The SpeedGT cars run a heat insulated pipe to where the front plate is.
The superchargered car air intake is relocated anyways.
Thoughts?

The chances of the radiator getting crunched in an accident is probably a given anyway. I would think that if it were pitched at the angle of the airflow it may be even more efficient...
it is also layed down, but not parallel to the ground on the sledgehammer, and a one off callaway did on a production B2K. and a car that ran the silver state whatever race. (My brain is not working now for some reason, I cant remember anything).
anyhow it was a BB C4 that hit 235 there. they tilted the top of the radiator forward, and the heat extractor in the hood took the heat right out.
Also I have been looking at the build up on American hot rod of the TT 65 vette. it looks to be getting some radiator mods as for teh way the intercoolers are now.
I have been wondering about taking some idea like this and putting it to work.
IMO the best setups have the rad **** over at about 45degree angle. this gives you a much larger surface area for the same frontal area as a vertical rad. the problem is that it intrudes into the engine bay! i have seen this set up used alot on rally cars over here (uk) where they mount HUGE intercoolers in font of them and really **** them over!
also you could look into mounting one rad at the front, and another at the rear. lag the rear one flat and stick a bog fan on the top of it. then cut a hole in the underside and there you have it. it may sound a bit crazy (and it is) but it works well as an additional rad.
Isn't the radiator in an LT1 car already laid at an angle...like 70º?
I guess if you mean layed back about 20-30 degrees. it is like this on my 90 as well. it really makes the front of the engine look crowded compared to the early C4's
