Default Electrical Problem

I have just replaced my door mirrors, from the crappy Euro style to the correct teardrop style (1993 LT1)

All went well until relacing the trim on the drivers door, a relay switching noise (constantly switching) could be heard, sounding like it was coming from behind the passenger side dash. Think it may be something to do with PKE??

I have removed both door panels looking for shorts trapped/damaged wires but can find nothing. The PKE light is lit on the instrument display panel.

I have disconnected the mirrors as this is the only thing I have been working on, still no difference.

The engine will not turn over!!. Horizontal lines showing on Climate control panel.

Tried removing PKE and power door locking fuses, no difference.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your theft deterrent system is active, that is the relay you hear clicking. You have a defective door jam switch or door lock switch or a wire/s from the door to the door jam has its insulation abraded and is shorted to ground or the wire is open circuit from flexing.

Any way I de-activate the theft deterrent system to check this is the cause??

This is my daily driver and with work on the cards tomorrow I need to get this sorted pretty sharpish.

Any advice greatfully appreciated.

Check your battery. Sounds like it went flat. The relays will "click" in that area when the battery is low.

Also check your fuses. Some of the circuits in the vette have some very interesting sneak paths that can result in weird symptoms.

Problem solved, thanks for all the pointers.

It was a dying battery, who would beleive that could throw so many problems?. I'm used to a dead battery showing itself by having no power and car not starting, not warning lights all over the place and relays going mad!

I had done nothing wrong other than have the doors open for too long which proved too much for my battery.

Replaced the 650 Cold Cranking Amp Delco with a 735 Cold Cranking Amp model.

Thanks again.
