I am having a problem with my 94 starting. I just got it running after sitting for most of last year, the first few times i started it, it bumped starts, then after driving it a short distance and shutting it off she wont fire. I think its the vats , also during cranking i noticed on the dash sys was flashing. any ideas on what to do . thanks
Doesn't "sys flashing" indicate you've thrown a code? After sitting for a year I hope you did something with the old gas, as in adding some Heat or other type of treatment to remove any condensation (water)
that may have degraded the fuel.
That SYS flashing generally means something with the computer. Remove and clean connectors (I think there are 4) to the computer and try it again. If that does not help, go to the standard troubleshooting sequence:
1. Does it have fire (spark plugs firing)
2. Is it getting fuel (pressure test fuel line)
If it has those, you'll probably need to hook up a tester to the OBD connector or short two pins (don't remember which ones, but do a search and you'll find diagrams) and check your codes. Good luck.
