'95 Corvertible, automatic, completely stock. The problem started a few weeks ago when he filled up. The fuel guage began to register incorrect amounts. Mostly it shows to be near empty but once you fill it back up it registers full for a short period of time and then back to near empty.
What are y'alls thoughts; bad fuel sending unit? Or? Can this be diagnosed by checking for a code error?

The fuel gauage sending unit develops corrosion over time and will stop sending the correct voltage to the guage. Then the guage seems to jump from one setting to another as in your case. There is an excellent C4 Tech-tip on repeiring the fuel guage sending unit by frizlefrak. Check it out. Using the Tech-tip you can do the job yourself with simple hand tools and a few replacement rubber parts. Takes maybe an hour or two at the most and shouldn't cost more than $15 for a new gasket and o-rings from the dealer.
