Default Opti drive timing cover seal

Has anyone replaced the optispark drive seal in the timing cover - it just seems to set in the hole - no real recess to seat into !!
Is this correct??
Thanks

Yeah we replaced a friend of mines just a few weeks ago. If you try to do it w/ the cover on the car its a PITA to get it out and back in b/c you can't tap it out from the inside obviously like you could if it was on the car. We basically got a corner started w/ a screwdriver, then hooked on w/ vice grips and pulled til it broke and popped out. Back in was fairly simple. Just had to get it started, then tap it w/ a hammer and piece of wood.

you need to be careful... I understand this seal is very sensative to installation. If you don't get it right, it will leak. Same with the waterpump seal.
