safest way to do N02
I have a 1996 autl lt1 stock internals 80k on the clock.
I have LT headers, 52 mm tb, no cats or mufflers, under drive pullies..all the bolt ons.
what would be the safestes way for me to add a little N02 my ride?
I will soon install 3.31s and also a cam.
I just dont wanna throw a rod with too much compression.
what are your thoughts? and $ for what you recomend.
not sayin I am 100% for sure going to do this...but Id like more info.
thanks alot your friend

ps. nitrous like high compression. Forced induction like low compression. Your connecting rod is not a problem with nitrous but your factory piston will have a problem if you are getting detonation.

thanks
is there any way to bring it on gradually or always run with it on a little?

the nx maximizer will allow you to bring out the nitrous based on a percentage and time.
For example you can start it at 30% and gradually build it up to 100% within 2secs. The maximizer is a very nice piece of equipment to have.
how much would a kit like that wiht purge and maximizer cost?
i am going with 3.31s as i have stock 2.59s and Im afraid to go with anything to low in the dana 36! the 3.31s are also only like $170

Maximzier is around 500.
A barry Grant system will give you the most bower for the buck.
100 shot will bring you into the 12's.
You will need some good DR Nitto or MT Street.
That rear end will work but the mile P H will be high.
The 20000169 fuel pump from worlb will be the best.
You will need to change your plugs to BP8EFS NGK.
You will need to run 106 nitrous racing fuel and install a LT4 Knock sensor only about $40.00.
All the bells and whistles you can install but I would just hit the switch as you want when going down the track.
well i am already in the 12s
about 12.7
good info!
1. ok well hmm if got the purge valve, lt4 knock sensors, and no maximizer
would I be good to go?
itll be on the street and see the ocasionaly drag slip use!
2. also do i have to run race gas? thats expensive. i always use premium...thats a given...
3. how hard is it to install one of these kits? do i have to tune the AFR etc?
thanks alot your friend

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
The 100 shot will take a second off your 1/4 time!
If you don't get a full second something is wrong, I use the B8EFS NGK plugs.
MSD 6AL box ,HYPERTECH power programmer.
YOU realy need one of these is you are going to run nitrous.
I removed the revlimiter from the computer that is a must to run nitrous on an LT1/4.
I short the trans shift point1-2 300 rpm's and the 2-3 shift 200 rpm's.
I use the 160 stat no nitrous above 200 degrees or it will lean out to much.
I use a retard but not necessary with only 100 shot.
Next stop 11.70 at over 120 mph.
Yes it is that easy.
You could go faster but I don't turn mine on until 2nd gearor just after I get moving out of the hole.
I run 11.20's but I also use tunercats and datamaster to moniter the engine and I run a lap top on the pass seat.
The ASR/ABS kicks in when doing a burn out if you don't keep the car centered when burning out, also retards the engine 15 deg so only burn out once and don't bounce the car on a second burn out.
can yall give me the links where to buy:
1.the plugs
2. MSD box
3. N02 kit you recommend
4. any other hardware Ill need (purge line).
thanks alot
that sounds like a very good set up!

You want the 75 to 175 It's on the site if you look hard.
The purge I would get from NX theirs is better, barry grant purge sucks.
Don't buy the NX kit I have one of each and the barry grant is better ,the tech support is better with NX.I still like the barry grant unit.
Jegs for the 6AL $195.00 and you will need the pigtail for the coil hook up,I don't like cutting up my car so I spend the extra money.
The plugs are just NGK B8EFS they are 2 steps colder NAPA or any auto store.
If you decide to run a fuel presure regulator, only use the Aeromotive unit all the other regulators will fill your motor with fuel and lock it up .Been their done that.
The number 8 plug is the hardest to get to .
If you buy a snap-on 5/8 swivel spark plug socket it works great with the long off set handel on the 3/8 racket.
A piece of vacuum hose on the end of the plug will make it easy to install the plugs.
Watch out for that bolt on the oil dip stick it smarts.

It depends on if you want to hassle with it. I'm sure the NOS techs would talk you through it though.

I have a Dana 36 in my Vette with a 383 pushing 400Tq to the ground w/o NOS and I have 3.73's in it for two years now, no problems whatsoever. Just FYI.
At least go 3.45's. The 3.45's are said to be the "perfect" gear for the Vette. I'm running 3.54's in my D36 and havn't had one problem (knock-on-wood)...
