Default Diff Rear Cover/Batwing Help

Need a little help. I am replacing the rubber bushings with PST Polygraph bushing on a 91 coupe. Instuction for the PST bushing kit are not very good. I have the big rubber bushings out of the ends of the batwing but not sure how to proceed. There are some thin sleeves pressed in the casting. One side of the sleeve is rolled over flat but the other side of the sleeve sticks out about an 1/8" past the casting. It seems like the sleeve should be removed so it does not cut the new polygraph bushings. PST is closed until Tuesday. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I had to take the sleeves out to install my graphite bushings back there. You can use a hacksaw of some kind and cut it carefully.I used my sawz all.I made a thin cut down the middle of the sleeve inside of sleeve, then used a screwdriver to pry it out.I did not cut into the batwing either.Or you can try and bang the sleeve out but it may be pretty stuck in there.

Yes, you're best to cut it carefully. A hacksaw blade installed in the handle after putting it through the hole will work or you can cut through it with a good triangular file as I did. The good news is when you get it out, the hard work's over. The new bushings install by hand.

Cool deal. Thanks for the info. Have all the left side bushings replaced. I will try the hacksaw method in the morning. Can't wait to get the rear end back and installed.
