OK guys I am starting to think about changing to the Dana 44 and would like to know what is involved.
Will all my Dana 36 suspension and driveline parts bolt up to the Dana 44 or do I need these parts from the Dana 44 car?
What would need to be done to run my current BBS wheels on a Dana 44 from an 88 and later car since I will be installing it into an 87?
Thanks in advance
Robert
All you have to change is the differential, so the suspension and wheels aren't a factor. Ideally, you will get the "C" beam and driveshaft with the conversion. However, your "C" beam can be re-drilled and in many cases the longer D36 driveshaft will fit.

Just did the conversion last July. $1500 from Dino's for a 3.45, c-beam, and driveshaft. A couple more bucks for new u-joints, and a free weekend and you have yourself converted to a D44.
Was pretty easy, the hardest part for me was getting that damn c-beam lined back up and bolted in. Took me a couple hours at least.
Did mine and I had IKERDS form Indiana do a 3.75 gear ratio, urethane bushings in the bat wing, a new C beam?, that piece that goes down the driveshaft and I got a new driveshaft with heavy duty u joints, delivered to Hawaii 2500. Worth it, as I went through 3 36's. The 396 didnt do it to the 36's, it was the 350 lt1 with bolt ons. It was just a weak diff.
