Default Vortech FMU question

On the top, there is the vaccum/boost hose on one side of the top. On the other, opposite the hose connection, there is an adjustment screw of some type and a circular opening in between the screw and the "t". What does this screw adjust?

Quiketz,

If it is the super FMU, I have one by the way I'll sell you...

The screw adjustment is a bleed off screw that limits tha max fuel pressure.

Here is a link on it...

Hope this helps,

it doesn't look like the super fmu. The screw opposite the vaccum input port is the only adjustment on the unit. Is it perhaps for restricting the vaccum to the unit?

BTW, I think I found my leak. I think it's the power steering hose. The fluid looks similar to oil and my power steering unit was almost out of fluid after the drive out to your place. I since topped it off and in 5 miles of driving, it was down an inch....

Qwiketz,

You know I think you hit it on the head... It did look more like power steering fluid!

Yes the function would still be the same...

called vortech today. They said that they have a "needle bleed assembly" which will allow you to drop one full point of stepup on the fmu. For instance, if you have a 4 to 1 which we have, then you can drop the stepup ratio to 3to 1. From what they were saying, it sounds remarkably close to what we have. I'll have to play with that **** once it's on the dyno. The tech described it as going on the top of the fmu. It sounds like what I have on there now. I'll have to send them a pic to verify.

Can you post a pic here? I'm a bit confused on what you're describing...

Thanks for the input valve. So it does reduce the fuel pressure step up ratio when the thing is unscrewed outward? Thanks!!

I’m not sure that it’s called a bleed off valve or if there’s a proper name for the part opposite the input hose. Can you verify what it is and let me know exactly what it does? I am not sure if it adjusts the base fuel pressure or if it drops the step up ratio under boost.

Thanks!
