I live in Winter Park,Fl, home of brink streets
I have Bilsteins now but I need a softer ride or a good chiropracter, so are there any shocks that give a softer ride or should I start saving for the Dr?
I used to run KYB'd they have a "soft " ride, they sre gas filled I haven't used them on a Vette but I had a Jepp and an Explorer and really enjoyed the ride....
The Bilstiens should be fine, are you sure they just aren't worn out and hitting the bump stops?
Pretty sure they are ok, just bought the car so I don't know for sure. There are not any leaks and on normal streets the ride is pretty goog, it is just on brick streets I feel like I am a ping pong ball.
I've never heard the ride on base suspension Vettes referred to as too stiff! Usually, it's that it rides too much like Grandpa's Caddy, and people want to go stiffer.
I can totally sympathize with you, as there are times when I go over certain roads and just think, "Why me?" You have to keep in mind, though - you don't drive Bilstien shocks, you drive a Corvette. It's going to ride like a sportscar, not a luxury touring car.
I know it is going to ride like a vette, I just wanted to see if there were any shocks that give a softer ride than the Bilsteins. You didn't read my original statement.
I've heard that Edelbrock Performer IAS shocks were a pretty good compromise between ride quality and handling. I haven't tried them, but its on my list of things to do. I'm sure that someone out there in the forum can speak to this from experience. Just FYI, my original Bilsteins were worn out and my ride was reminiscent of a lumber truck and the handling was pretty sloppy. I replaced them with new Bilsteins and the handling got better, but the "ride" is still pretty rough.
