Can the trans come down with the shifter still attached? That is the question.
We have the exhaust off, console apart, getting ready to remove the drive shaft and C-beam. It does not look like there will be enough room to slide the trans back far enough to come down with the shifter still attached. Does the shifter have to come off before you try to slide the trans back away from the engine or will the engine tilt backward far enough for the trans to come down, slide back and the shifter clear the hump?
You should only have to remove the shift linkage at the trans and push the rods out of the way .Remove the 3 bolts for the shifter plate.
Don't forget to take the presure off the clutch Slave cylender.
Put the ZF6 in third and it should clear the hole in the tunnel.
Yes you can, I have done it a few times, put the shifter toward the front/3rd and lower it out, no problems. I wrap a rag around the shifter to keep from scratching it.
