How do you remove the plastic connector clip from the knock sensor, on a 1985 Coupe?
The tip of my knock sensor plug is broken (the broke off piece is inside of the electrical connector). I need to replace the sensor and remove the broke off piece inside of the connector, but the plastic connector feels kinda brittle, and I don't want to push or pull on it the wrong way, and end up snapping it in two.
Warm it well with a hair dryer until the plastic softens up. If it breaks anyway, it is a $7 item that is relatively easy to locate and swap. Napa and Standard both sell this. Mine breaks often from header heat. I have changed this plug 3 or 4 times in the past 10 years.

Any suggestions?
Try squeezing the connector at the widest section, when you squeeze it opens up and releases the snapped off part. Be ready to work fast when you pull the knock sensor out, it screws into a water jacket.
Don't know. My check engine light comes on every once in a while, but I haven't gotten around to checking to see what code or codes I am getting.
If my engine is cold, it takes 2 to 3 tries to start up my engine. Doesn't matter if the weather is hot or cold.
If my engine is warmed up, it'll fire right up, 1st time.
The knock sensor is broken. If I get under the hood, and push the electrical connector back on to it before I try to start the engine, the engine starts up the 1st time. May be a coincidence, maybe not. But the way I figure it, the knock sensor is broken, so I might as well go ahead and fix it.
