Hello Everyone,
I have a 91 with the L98 engine. I have jumpered A and B plug to read the SES for fault codes. Will scanners tell me what frequency my injectors are working at? Also, will the scanners supply any other information that the SES won't? I am wondering because I read a thread here that mentioned they were able to tell that they had a bad injectors. Thanks for the info in advance.
Yes, you should be able to see the injector pulse width commanded by the ECM. Yes, the scan tool shows you valuable information for tuning, not just error codes. From that data it is possible to deduct that you may have a bad injector.

Somewhat difficult to use Pulse Width as a diagnostic tool without a baseline with known good injectors on your motor. As injectors become restricted, pulse width can increase, but you need to know what it was when they were "good" and scan under the exact same conditions (particularly as to air & coolant temp). Better to troubleshoot injectors with a test light, DVM or measure the pressure drop with a really decent fuel pressure gage (it'll need large divisions between the #'s to obtain an accurate reading) and with an injector pulse tool (which will energize each one for about a millisecond to a 5 millisecond pulse - the important thing is consistentency - and run about 80 bucks at Napa if you really want to do this).
