Default L98 Chip question

Can someone tell me what benefits can be had by replacing the stock chip for my early '86 cast heads with an ADS SuperChip, street model? What upsides and downsides can I expect in performance in a daily driver? Is it a direct part swapout or are there other mods to be done? Thanks -

Though I don't know exactly what that chip does, there are but a few things that can be done by an off the shelf chip:
-increase injector pulse width at WOT
-increase dynamic ignition timing
-lower the fan on/off temp
-change the TCC lockup point.

Since it is a "street chip" changes will be limited by the EPA. For specifics I would contact their web site or tech support line.

If you want to enhance performance: install an AFPR for trimming fuel flow at WOT, bump the TPS base idle setting from .54Vdc to .65Vdc, bump base timing till just below ping, install a 160deg T-stat and aux fan switch with that switch wired to control the main fan.

This is part of a posting from an other efituning site.

ADS Superchip

Here is the other one. It's from the ADS Superchip that was in my car when I bought it. It didn't have any identifying numbers on it, but I presume that it is also the correct one for the car, '88 Vette, 3.07 auto.

The tune is generally richer in most areas and the spark tables are hotter on the top end than even ARAP My worn-out stock L98 was running into pretty severe detonation when running on this .bin, but here it is if anyone wants to take a look.

Nothing besides the improved fan settings.

I would not expect a performance increase. No off-the-shelf chip has been proven to be worth the expense.

My Late 86 with aluminum heads ran BETTER with the new stock chip I bought from GM.The ads chip I had in my car when I bought it was total junk.If you didnt know,GM upgraded the proms over the years to correct problems that the car may have had at first.

With the ads chip,it ran weird at times and while backing up,the idle would bounce up and down and acted like it wanted to stall. It just felt like it was not running right. If you want a chip done, have it professionally burned for your car by a tuner.Dont buy an off the shelf prom with preset tuning. It may not be correct for your cars tuning. If your car is stock with no head work, cam and etc done, and runs good, dont even bother with pre-programed chips.

Good Luck!
