ok.. its about that time to change my shocks/springs on my 84... I'd like to lower it a little bit but I dont know where to go and what to look for ... I dont know the difference on the C4's that came with the suspension package and the ones that didnt. Has anyone lowered their 80's C4? thanks! ... BY THE WAY! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Mid America sells a lowering kit for $40 the rear is real easy comes with 2 adj bolts. the front is a ROYAL PITA it come with 2 wedges and you have to lift the front end like 3 feet into the air to remove the spring. I haven't lowered mine yet but I'm only gonna lower the rear
Just did mine and as previously stated, the front is a real PITA . Took me at least 12 hours to complete the front, but that included cleaning all parts and doing an extremely careful job.
I ordered both the VB & P kit as well as the MAD kit. The bolts on the VB&P kit seem nicer and they came with new poly-bushings. The only difference I would make with the previously included instructions are:
On the front, you only have to remove one lower A-Arm.
And, on the rear spring, you probably should protect the rear spring from the jack with a towel or rag. Any scratches or bruises could propogate into a fractured spring.
Lastly, I would not recommend lowering just the rear. Tha C-4 was designed to have the "rake" to the front. This is a designed aerodynamic feature for high-speed stability. Unless you dont plan on going over 100!!!
