I have a 90 L98 6-speed with about 64,000 miles. It always starts right up and runs fine when it is cold. After 15-20 minutes of driving it starts to develop what sounds like a spark knock at idle. Then, recently over the last couple days it has stalled twice at a stop light and won't restart until I let it sit for about 20 minutes. I don't think it is the fuel pump because I can hear it humming when I try to restart it. After it stalls it just cranks and cranks like it isn't getting spark until I let it cool down. The temp gauge reads approx. +/- 180 when this happens. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help.
when the ignition module goes bad the car won't start. your stuck. do you have a scanner??
I'm not saying it's the module, there are several possibilities. But I have had modules that start failing intermittently at first, but eventually quit.
I don't have a scanner. It seems like the problem is somehow related to the temp of the car though. It never does it when the car is cold. Only after it has been driven, parked, and then restarted and driven. What would be causing the spark knock? Is that related to it stalling or are they two separate problems?
