Went to start my '84 yesterday and found the battery dead. I'm going to replace it, but can't get to it for the next 1-2 weeks because of work. Will any of the electronics be damaged from it sitting this way?
Also I usually start the car up every month, but guess I'll be skipping this month because of the dead battery, will this harm the car? I know some people store the car and don't even start it up all winter, so I guess it should be OK.
Don't worry about it-mine sat for 2-3 months with a dead battery once
and never damaged anything. You might want to remove the battery terminal for the heck of it. And alot of vettes set for alot longer waiting for the new motor install.
Do yourself a favor...
Vette batteries lose 1% per day on storage. With your new battery get a battery float charger. They match the charge to the current loss on your battery and keep it 100% topped -up. This will greatly extend the life our your new battery.
There are many brands and price points. I bought one at Harbor Freight for $8 and it works well.
It should be able to sit for a year & still start up.
You have a drain on your battery.
Not unusual.
Try putting a test light between your batttery post & your disconnected battery cable.Either or.+-
Then pull fuses till the light goes out.
Then you will know what circuit has a short.
I'll bet its the accessory fuse.
But I cant help after that.

I'm sorry but no car can sit for a year without the battery dying unless it's on a float charger. If you take that formula 1% per day loss, that equates to approximately 3.5 months before the battery is toast. And that's with optimal circumstances. If the car is parked outside and the ambient temperature is extremely cold, that figure could get halved.
I seriously hope you were joking, because telling someone improper information who is naive on these matters does him and others a great disservice.

C-4's burn about 1% a day. After two to four weeks, the battery needs a charge. No C-4 can go a year and start right up.
