Default installed my koni shocks today!

I installed my Koni shocks this afternoon and the car feels so much better. There was only 60k miles on the stock Bilsteins but I think they were shot. The car feels a lot tighter and smoother now

I've got grease up to my elbows the rubber boots around the upper ball joints are bad and I'm hoping this doesn't mean the ball joints are cashed.

I set the shocks 1 full 360 degree turn from full soft (from full soft to full hard is 2.5 full turns) and the car feels good. A lot of people have said this is a good all around setting for autox etc.

check out this link for your Koni part #'s

I developed the shocks you have and the rears should be set a bit softer than the fronts on a 92. Probably no more than a half a turn from full soft in the backs and you are probalby at a good setting on the fronts for the street.

You will end up closer to full hard on the fronts in an autocross. That helps the stability margin and you won't get any loosenesss in fast transitions.... This assumes that you have equal size tires all around, if you have more rubber on the backs you will need to help get rid of some of the push. Actually though, increasing the rear shocks isn't a really good way to do that since it hurts stability margin and doesn't get to the problem....

What you may want to do is soften the front bar a bit. Just put about one alignment shim between the two brackets that clamp the front bar and that should get you to the right setting for autocross with bigger back tires..... More or less adjust to taste.....

I just got my Koni's installed this past weekend as well. No problems at all. I set the rears at ~1/2 way (this is on a 96). Hard to tell in a few miles of street driving how much of a change it made over the 50k mile stockers but first real AutoX is on the 20th..

mine felt a lot better unless it is all in my head My stock shocks were really soft, probably because the car came with the "soft suspension" option whatever that is.

I've been told only a third or half of a turn from full soft on the rears and similar on the front is a good starting point for autocross I've also heard that set all the way to soft they're harder than the factory Bilsteins.
