Yes sir...

I like my 4.10's........but if you were to race from say 60mph to 110 mph you would see very little difference between the 4.10's & 3.45's.......0-to say 40...4.10's all the way...especially if you can hook...would put you out ahead from the start in a 1/4 mile run..

Honestly I don't think it would give me all that much. I've got enough traction problems as it is. If I could bolt on my slicks without breaking anything then I might would consider the 4.10's. The problem though is that even if I could bolt on my slicks now, 4.10's would just make me that much more likely to break something. It's the whole torque multiplication issue.

Maybe it was just a fluke, I don't know. It had Corsa exhaust which you could barely hear at all from inside the car so maybe it's just that it didn't SOUND fast. I'm torn on the 4.10's. I'd like to have them but then I love being able to have the revs drop off the face of the planet for cruising.

There's also the issue of finding somebody competent to install them.

It's funny you mention this - I had my 4.10's installed back in Dec, and I'm not 100% sold on them. In fact, I'm thinking about dropping back to a 3.73 gear. Outside for 1st gear, the pull doesn't feel any different than the stock 3.45 gears.

Think about this a little......

Actually, in a sense, the 4.10's provide protection to your driveshaft, transmission, clutch etc. .......what would get extra torque is your half shafts, after the gear multilplication........

so if you just bolt on slicks you increase the stress on everything.....if you then add 4.10's to the slicks, you reduce the stress on everything before the 4.10 gears......so get some slicks, 4.10's, & beef-up your half-shafts & have some fun

If you dont see my point then think about it in reverse starting at the tires.....what will it take to break loose the slicks...less motor torque with the greater rear end torque multiplication of the 4.10's

I have 4.10s in my car, and IMHO I think it has been my best mod. I have been getting 1/4 mile times every time I do a mod, and I got a solid 2-3 tenths out of that mod, plus around town, I can slide around turns, and generally have fun going through my tires!

Always match your rearend gear with your power combo.

I use a 4:11 to get me into my powerband. (I **** a 7,000rpm)

One benfit is that It will tame a "roudy" car. If the car has "lot's-o-cam" It will take the engine out of "Cam Surge" territory alot quicker.

Basicly, It gives the engine more levrage to pull away from a dead stop.

Yeah the problem though is that I don't have the money to beef up anything. Honestly I'm not worried about anything in front of the diff.
My car with 4.10 gears and slicks would run 11's all day long. As fun as that would be I just don't have the money. Anybody want to donate?
