Default Interior bleed through heat???

On my 85, there is a ton of heat inside the car. I know that part of it is because my heater control is stuck on hot, but I am wondering how much heat bleeds through the firewall. Is it worth covering the firewall and trans tunnel with Dynamat insulator???

I don't know about cutting down on heat but I'm getting ready to do this to cut down on noise I bought several sheets of dynamat extreme and I've been sticking it all over the car

imho, its probably just the heater control. i get some hot air coming through the vents regardless of fan operation.

I have an 84 and had the same issue... pull the heater control panel out and switch it to cold... you can manually move the cable... Makes all the difference in the world...

The shifter has 2 boots, one that you see in the car and another one under the car. If the bottom one gets torn, it lets in a bunch of heat into the console and the floor.

I was getting enough heat through the tunnel on long trips to cook my right leg sunny side up. I went to Home Depot and got some heater duct insulation that is made of closed cell foam and foil with adhesive on one side. I put some of this on the inside and also the underside of the tunnel. I've had it for over a year now and it helped a bunch.

You could also wrap your header pipe with insulated tape. Same stuff races use to wrap exhaust headers.

I could never keep a cold drink in my holder more than a few minutes or it would get warm and in the summer the tunnel would get downright hot. I too did the foil insulation thing in my car from the firewall all the way behind the seats from sill to sill. I expect a BIG difference this summer.

Mine was the lower shifter boot also.
Also, I did try wrapping the pipes with the fiberglass fabric roll stuff, I eliminated the precats, and even added sheet metal squares I molded into the shape of the trans tunnel. Picked up the sheet metal squares at home depot.
Way better.
