The Feb 2005 HotRod had an article on Tom's upgrade for earlier (C2/C3) Vette IRS/diff.
Checked the site out and they seem to have plenty available for the C4 as well. I'm planning to pull my Dana 36 w/3:08 and will replace w/Dana 44 and 3:54 or 3:73. I don't drive the car more than 2-4K per year, not much highway either. Trans and TC have been upgraded. Will be doing the cooling system this summer w/Be-Cool (or ?) Rad and new Heater Core (probably also a different trans cooler as well). Next year (or possibly the year after) will be a large displacement (400cid+) SBC. Want the neck snapping performance I used to have w/my older iron muscle.
So, what about Tom's Diff? Anyone have anything good/bad to say.
Tom's does not have anything for us C4 guys... I've checked with Tom's, Moser, Randy's, Currie, Strange, and I can't remeber the other place that sells the high end third memeber.. nothing there either.. Go back and find a thread on "9 Second Dana 44s"
I believe I talked to a guy named Kenny down there at Tom's. I just bought some cold forged Spicer u-joints from them. There was another guy down there I talked with also, but he was kinda Grumpy. I suggest you ask for Kenny.
I have cryo'd pinion yoke, inner axles, outer axles, and cold forged u-joints on my d44 and I can say the parts are beatiful in their own right and I haven't had any problems with them.
All parts cam from Tom's, I will say they were NOT cheap
