Default Help... Damaged Fiberglass

Someone got me in a parking lot and damaged the fiberglass right over the front wheel. So its the hood. Its chipped on the corner but not missing its like shattered.... Its about 3 by 3 inches big. I was wondering how hard this would be to get repaired... or how much $$$ it would be is more like it. Im trying to sell it so I would like to get it done ASAP. Thanks

The thing that sucks about that is the fact that the whole hood needs to be painted, meaning, there are no sharp body lines to break the blend and get away with just painting a small area... I would probably charge closer to 5 or 600 depending on the color. And the damaged area underneath also has to be refinished... Pete

A good shop will likely be able to blend the color. They will have to clear the whole hood though. In my area this is a 6-700 dollar job at a higher end shop.

When the hood has to be painted, does it have to be stripped of existing paint or is it painted over. Like....fixed section of fiberglass, primed, paint, clear. or do you start over on the whole hood so it is bare fiberglass then prime, paint, clear???

If the existing paint is in good condition it can be painted over without stripping.
