Default exhaust???????????

got some extra 3" stainless tubing & 90's left from a project at work i could have if i want it and was wondering what i should do. get hookers and run to an x pipe i make from two siamesed 90's then into two chambered mufflers and then to eliminator tips, or get the tpis and y-pipe and run it through my hiflo cat and my borla 2.5" cat back.i could always sell the catback, what would a 2.5"borla catback w/2500 miles go for if i sold it.

If you want to run true duals there is enough room (at least under an '87) to run dual 3" pipes with Random Tech bullet cats.

Of course if you already have the cat & cat back, it would be a lot of work unless you are pushing some ponies. Otherwise I would just go with the TPIS headers and Y.

Those 3" pipes are awfully big if you have a 350 and/or a mild engine. Then again so are the 1 3/4" Hookers. 'Nuff said.

My comment still applies, but if that is the plan...Go for it!

What was the point of the original post? To get advice on the value of the cat back?

Also, what is this?

I think he's referring to ProTopLine 192cc Intake Runner / 64cc Combustion Chamber / 2.02-1.94 Valve Heads.

I ASSUMED the same thing, but I wanted for him to clarify it. If that's the case, I want the part number of the small block heads that will take that valve combination.

2.02" + 1.94" = 3.96" If there is ZERO clearance between the valves, and the remaining .040" is split evenly, that leaves .020" valve to cylinder wall clearance in a 4.00" bore IF the valves are in the center of the bore, and at 0*. Where are the valve guides? It must take offset shaft mounted rockers. The phase VI Bow Tie heads that have the valve guides offset by .050", only allow 2.10" intakes with 1.65" exhausts.

I take it back. A SBC with those exhaust valves can probably use 1 3/4" headers and 3" exhaust. Especially from 8000 rpms to up wards of 10,000 rpms and above. Even IF it's only a 383.

what size dual exhaust should he have with 1.94/150 valves? I have that size (ported vortec heads), manley race flo valves, and around 470hp... I use dual 3" and 1 3/4 headers, I seem to have plenty of low end.

Dual 2.5's is pretty much all any smallblock is ever going to need.

And the new c6 has dual 3". it is a 500 horse motor. Revs to 7000+

I would think that it wouldn't hurt this guy any if he ran dual 3". would look sick too, being stainless. And the new motor would probably need more than a dual 2.5.... I would think

Just my little thoughts

sorry for the typo's, my heads are pro topline's 2.02-1.60 64 cc combustion chamber and 192 cc intake runners. i have got 20' of three inch 304 ss non welded tubing from work as well as some 90's and 45's. my plan is for 3" tru duals and it will look
sick as 4bblC4 states especially with dual 3.5" rolled edge tips pokin out from under the rear. might be overkill but im starting the x-pipe monday night at work.dont have a penny in it yet so i wont loose anything by changin my mind later

Way to go. I think that setup will work fine. Maybe you will lose some velocity that is needed, but when the new motor is in, it will be perfect. Do it now and forget it. you'll never have to change it again!

Have fun! wish I had some 3" ss tubing!
