Tip for removing lower radiator hose!
Additionally, there is one little tidbit that was mentioned by "Bill's86Coupe" that turned into such a timesaver for me that I want to pass it on to everyone.
In one of my posts, I said that I was having trouble getting to the waterpump end of my lower radiator hose to remove it. Bill's86Coupe responded with the suggestion that I should remove the belt tensioner mechanism to make my job easier. This is probably very obvious to many of you, but it wasn't to me.
Not only was the tensioner easy to remove, but, just as Bill's86Coupe said it would, taking it off opened up that whole lower area of the front of the engine and made it really easy to get to that radiator hose, and also to the bracket bolts for the a/c accumulator.
I would like to say a public "Thank You!" to Bill's86Coupe and I would like to suggest that the tip for removing the belt tensioner be added to the "How to Remove and Clean your Radiator" Tech Tip.
Regards to all!
Rick
Glad to hear it went well. You sound alot like me, wanting to get in there and work on the vette.
Where is Decatur? When I was a kid I lived in Birmingham. Got a friend in Montgomery. Like you said, this forum is a great resource...tons of great advice coming from great people. I'd even pay to be a member.
